Title:
2nd Grade Teacher
Kim Farwell

I was born and raised in Los Altos, attending LASD schools: Portola Elementary, Egan Junior High and graduating from Los Altos High school, where I met my husband, John). I attended Foothill College, Chico State for undergrad and then received my teaching credential and M.Ed from San Jose State University. I have spent the last 30+ years dedicating my career to public education. My first teaching job was here at Bullis-Purissima School (now Gardner Bullis) where I was hired after doing my student teaching here at LASD. I have primarily taught K-2 grades my whole career. I love to teach the children’s foundational skills,  which they will build upon for the rest of their lives. I hope to instill a love of school and learning, which will carry them forward. My favorite part of public education is working with students and families from different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.I taught 6 years in Texas to mainly underprivileged families living on the border near the Rio Grande, and six years in San Antonio, TX to mainly military families from all corners of our country. Of course, being at Springer School is where my heart is now. Not only did my three grown children attend school here, but I was a Room Parent for 14 years straight. My husband and I were both on the PTA Board here at Springer, as well as many other committees including the Silent Auction and Walkathon. Best of all, I live in the Springer neighborhood. I love teaching in the neighborhood where I live and I get to see the Springer "kids" grow up right before my eyes and right out my kitchen window. There is nothing better. When I'm not working, you can find me gardening; walking my dog, Willow; heading to the beach (my happy place); or spending time with family and friends.
