NEW: Library Access for the 2020-21 School Year

As we continue to observe COVID-19 safety protocols, students may not currently enter the Springer Library. However, all students are encouraged to check out books from the library by accessing the online catalog, where books may be placed on hold.

To browse the Springer Library catalog online click here. To place a book on hold, you must log in at the upper right of the web page. Use your school/student assigned email address for the Username (the one used to access Google Classroom) and the Password used for that account.

Please place your hold orders by 12pm on the day prior to delivery or pick up. See below for times specific to your cohort.

  • VIRTUAL STUDENTS: Pick up will be on Wednesdays between 1-3pm at the Springer Library.
  • GRADES TK-5, COHORT A Students: Books will be delivered to your classroom on Tuesdays.
  • GRADES TK-5, COHORT B Students: Books will be delivered to your classroom on Thursdays.
  • GRADE 6, BOTH AM & PM COHORTS: Books will be delivered to your classroom on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What's the purpose of our school libraries?

School libraries have great books, just like public libraries, but school libraries also teach information, literacy skills, and library skills that are part of the curriculum in California.
What types of resources are available from LASD libraries?

Our libraries provide multiple resources for students in grades Preschool through 8 with the goal of providing every student with options for becoming strong information users and lifelong readers. We offer print books and magazines, both fiction and nonfiction, for reading for pleasure and to support school work and personal information interests. We also offer high quality electronic information resources for student research and reading development that are available both at school and home. Our goal is to offer choices to students in order to meet each student's research and reading needs. Please take a look!
